Job Description:
Saab, Inc. is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented Lead Configuration Management Release Professional in the Surveillance U.S. Division specializing in software development and configuration control. Our ground-based surveillance systems encompass all forms of detecting and tracking aircraft while in flight and on the surface of airports. We specialize in the development of integrated surveillance systems, the fusion and display of critical information, and the design and deployment of elegant solutions.
As a seasoned, experienced Software Configuration Management Professional, you will have immediate impact solving complex problems in creative ways, implementing EIA-649 principles, developing processes that contribute to company objectives, mentoring team members, and analyzing and maintaining tools that support and automate processes for software release and control.
The successful Lead Configuration Management Professional has proven experience operating with a high level of autonomy and delegated management authority, independently solving highly complex problems, developing novel solutions, effectively integrating with Engineering, interfacing with all functions supporting programs including Program Management, Engineering, Contracts, Subcontracts, Quality, and others.
This position is flexible depending upon your experience, with the ability to work remotely (within the Northeast region) or onsite at our East Syracuse, NY office.
Responsibilities Include:
Act as a primary point of contact for Software Configuration Management, integrating with program and Engineering teams
Evaluate, setup, configure, deploy, utilize defect tracking and version control systems
Analyze processes, recommend standardization solutions, and implement improvements
Develop and employ metrics to identify opportunities for improvement, reporting as required
Proactively train and mentor team members to solve technical problems
Work with engineering to develop installation scripts and programs for installation of products
Work with project teams to determine an appropriate build schedule and then initiate the build and packaging process
Ensure traceability of problems from origin through implementation, and test/validation to closure
Ensure standards for quality are maintained and processes are implemented consistently
Perform data entry, manipulating/analyzing data as required
Compile and assemble software from source code
Support developers for software package registry and delivery
Work with software engineers to correct build errors
Lead CM audits of libraries, data, data management systems, processes
Implement process improvements across the CM discipline
Execute planned program activities in accordance with procedures
Analyze requirements, provide CM planning and costing to proposal efforts
Maintain accurate list of deliverables per customer and/or site
Configure spares/repairs as contractually required
Interface professionally internally and externally
Proactively defines and implements tasks for self and others
May lead a project team
May be responsible for resource planning and scheduling
Performs other responsibilities as required
Compensation Range: $94,800-$120,900
The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.
Skills and Experience:
BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
15+ years experience working in a formal Software CM environment.
OR
MA/MS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mechanical Engineering, or related Discipline
13+ years experience
Required Skills:
Proven SWCM knowledge and system administration capability
Proven leadership skills, capability to direct efforts on complex solutions
Demonstrated drive to research, identify and adopt innovative solutions
Attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate across disciplines and organizations
Administration of Atlassian JIRA/Confluence/Crucible tool sets
Experience with Solaris, and/or Linux servers
Experience with Subversion (SVN)
Experience with Java or C++ software development
Desired Skills:
Configuration Management Certification (preferred)
Experience with Enovia, 3DExperience, Teamcenter or other Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems
