AdressGroup Sustainability consists of approximately 25 senior experts and project leaders within different sustainability disciplines such as climate, biodiversity, ESG vulnerable industries, governance and social responsibility. You will lead a team with a number of highly competent ESG experts focusing on sustainability policy, governance and regulatory development/implementation. The Head of Sustainability Governance reports to the Group Head of Sustainability.
The team's main responsibilities are:
- Developing Nordea's sustainability governance in line with leading European practices
- Driving the development of Nordea's external disclosures
- Leading Nordea's double materiality assessments
- Supporting the Group in the implementation of existing and new sustainability regulations
- Providing transparent and competitive information to Nordea's stakeholders.
In this role, you will work closely with the entire Group Sustainability team, alongside multiple internal and external stakeholders, to drive Nordea's strategic sustainability agenda. The offer
As Head of Sustainability Governance you will play a key role in Nordea's strategic sustainability work, with a high focus on developing Nordea's sustainability governance model, double materiality analysis, disclosures and regulatory impact assessments.
The Head of Sustainability Governance will lead the unit's work including the following responsibilities:
- Being an engaged and active leader and role model for the unit and represent the Group Sustainability leadership team as a sustainability spokesperson in internal and external contexts.
- Driving the forward-looking strategic direction and ambition level of the Group's sustainability governance and disclosures, including the Group's double materiality assessment.
- Taking the lead and acting as a Group level advisory function for regulatory implementation, including ensuring forward-looking approach throughout the Group.
The role is permanent and based in Stockholm or Helsinki.

We are looking for a senior candidate with several years of experience from development and implementation of Sustainability regulations, ESG risk management and strategic leadership. As sustainability competence and expectations amongst external and internal stakeholders is moving fast, a visionary mindset paired with the ability to translate complex societal movements into tangible actions, will be key in this role.
Your background:
- Worked several years in a leading role as sustainability regulatory expert or adviser within a corporate or consulting firm, or with sustainability regulatory implementation and reporting in the financial sector.
- Solid experience from strategic leadership work, including being part of a leadership team, interacting with executive and board committees and communicating with internal and external stakeholder on sustainability related topics.
- Proven track record of successfully establishing and executing on plans, ranging from high-level business environment/strategic scanning to operational implementation
- Cross functional/geographical project management is considered a merit, as you will work in a complex environment with a variety of stakeholders across the Nordics, such as the Business Areas, Group Risk, Group Finance and Group Legal.
Key competences in this role include:
- A thorough understanding of Sustainability regulatory and disclosure requirements, in particular CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) and EU Taxonomy, with the ability to explain the practical implications to internal stakeholders.
- A solid leader with high integrity and strategic leadership skills, including thought leadership and strategic communication.
- Understanding of the multi-layered complexity of the financial sector's impacts on people and planet in the sustainability transition.
- Fluency in written and spoken English. Proficiency in Swedish or Finnish is considered a merit.
