Arbetsbeskrivning

Are you a student interested in the mobility of the future and curious about life at Volvo Cars? Then our summer work can be something for you!

Each year, Volvo Cars welcome students as Summer Workers to our sites in Gothenburg, Olofström, Skövde och Lund. As a Summer Worker at Volvo Cars you can work in production, in one of our storages or at the office. Spending a few weeks in our team is a great way for you to get an insight to what life at Volvo Cars can be like and gives you a basic understanding of our operations. It also provides you with a strong network in our organization, which can be of value in your future career.  The number of Summer Worker positions and work areas varies from year to year.

Who we are?

At Deceleration & Steering, we are at the forefront of hardware and software development, spanning from early phases to industrialization and new car launches. Our primary objective is to develop tools for the brake system that exceed customer expectations, ultimately enhancing their experience of driving a premium vehicle.

What we offer?
Within Deceleration & Steering we have an exceptional opportunity for you to join our team as a Summer Worker in the brake modulation team. As a Brake System CAE Engineer, you will play a crucial role in system selection, design, and verification, contributing directly to the development of cutting-edge brake systems for premium cars.

Project Background

To be able to fully control the virtual analysis and design of brake system components, the Brake Mechatronics team at Volvo Cars is currently planning for the development of an in-house, fully-featured software for CFD analyses. The software will consist of a preprocessor (CAD/meshing environment), a CFD solver and a postprocessor (visualization of results). These tools and their underlying data will be managed by a GUI that will be designed specifically for this project.

What you will do?

Your main tasks will be to

  1. use the Python programming language to develop a modern, lightweight and modular GUI, and

  1. create the interphase between the GUI and the preprocessor.

To carry out the above tasks, we see that you have had an introduction to programming and data management in Python, and are familiar with at least one of the commonly used commercial Finite Element (FE) software. Knowledge of the basic steps that need to be followed in an FE-analysis will facilitate the development of the GUI and is thus considered meritorious.

Who you are?

You are a self-driven engineering student, who is willing to find out more about and contribute to the development of virtual analysis tools for brake system. Being structured and analytical in your way of working are highly appreciated and required for a successful contribution to the project. You are able to collaborate efficiently with your teammates as well as work independently when needed.

Location: Gothenburg, Sweden
