In the role of Product developer...
Joining the PRIMUS product development team, which currently comprises an Industrial Designer and four experienced Product Developers, you will report to the PRIMUS R&D Manager. Your primary focus will be enhancing existing products and introducing new ones.
Our development processes extend over a two-year period, during which you will either participate in or lead projects from inception to finished products. Currently, we are actively engaged in developing a new range of drinkware, and you will take the lead on this and other exciting projects.
This dynamic role demands a proactive approach, ensuring the successful execution of projects and the continual enhancement of PRIMUS's product offerings. As a key player in product development, you will be involved in various aspects of the process. Your responsibilities include:
Project Management: Serve as the primary liaison between PRIMUS and suppliers for designated projects. Oversee the entire project lifecycle from conceptualization to production, ensuring strict adherence to PRIMUS's development process. Take charge of schedules, budgets, and the overall quality of the final product. Conduct comprehensive product presentations both internally and externally.
Development and Innovation: Play an active role in development work, contributing innovative technical solutions. Translate marketing requirements into precise technical performance specifications. Generate proof-of-principle prototypes to validate and enhance design concepts. Contribute to the definition, specification, and testing of products.
Collaboration and Testing: Forge close collaborations with the Industrial Design team and vendors to harmonize design intent with manufacturability. Execute design validation testing based on DFMEA, ensuring the highest standards of product excellence. Our suppliers are in Asia, and for optimal collaboration, travel is required with approximately 40 overnight stays per year.
Documentation and Reporting: Provide detailed technical documentation for pivotal project decisions and design changes. Regularly present comprehensive reports on key project indicators to cross-functional and leadership teams. Manage and update product data within the PIM system for efficient data control and dissemination.
To apply for this role...
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, with a portfolio highlighting consumer goods products in materials such as plastic, metal, wood or other hardware.
Hands-on experience in outsourced product development, preferably in Asia. Proficient in collaborating closely with external partners, actively engaging in product discussions, and gaining valuable insights into the development process.
