The Role:

Responsible for managing, interpreting and administering all aspects of complex guidance and support in a major specialised area of Human Resources such as benefits, compensation, communication, learning and employee development, training and workforce planning, Human Resources planning, employee relations, equal employment planning, labour relations or recruitment.

Counsels and advises management and employees on personnel programmes and policies. Conducts research studies and prepares special reports and presentations. Has thorough knowledge and understanding of most of the major areas in the Human Resources function and a deeper knowledge and understanding in one or more specialized areas within Human Resources role.  The ideal candidate will have between than 8-12 years of experience as an HR professional.

Job Summary:

Saab UK comprises of employees who work in a variety of locations throughout the UK.  This role will be based at our Hull office supporting our Public Safety and Security (PSS) operation, which has employees based in both UK and Sweden.   You will report to the VP Director HR but also work closely and in conjunction with Head of Corporate HR and PSS HR in Sweden.

As an experienced HRBP, you will support the Human Resources department in providing high quality activities across the full range of HR operations and cover a wide variety of tasks

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring all aspects of the HR function run efficiently and effectively within the PSS operation.
  • Recruitment:
    • Supporting managers with their recruitment plans and the recruitment process, including assisting with creation of JDs and ensuring correct salary benchmarking. 
    • Liaising with the Recruitment Department throughout the process and advising on advertising, assessments, competency-based tests, etc.
    • Producing offer letters and contracts of employment.
    • Completion of the hire process in Workday/Payroll.
  • Onboarding:
    • Supporting your managers with all aspects of the on-boarding for new joiners.
    • Working in partnership with other areas i.e. Corporate HR, IT, Security, etc, to cover inductions, equipment, etc for each new joiner.
    • Coordination of the probation periods, benefits notification via payroll and necessary forms.
  • Leavers: 
    • Resignations - coordination of the leaver’s process, creating and issuing relevant paperwork, ensuring all equipment is returned, inputting data into Workday, leading the exit interviews and keeping the records to establish the KPIs for the monthly HR Database.
    • Redundancies/Settlements – working closely with the manager and Corporate HR to ensure the correct process is followed, supporting with drafting paperwork and making calculations for benefits and packages.  Liaising with legal representatives as and when necessary.
  • Providing support/answers to managers/employees in various HR matters including leave and compensation as well as resolving issues and problems whenever possible.  Seeking help and guidance when necessary to support matters further.
  • In conjunction with Corporate HR, provide and organise training on a regular basis to ensure managers fully trained with the different processes and systems in HR.
  • Organising Occupational Health Assessments and working closely with managers to keep the employees fit to work or with the necessary adjustments.
  • Assisting Corporate HR with Employment Relations cases.  Managing this directly with the manager and employee. 
  • Assisting Corporate HR with input from the PSS operation into the monthly payroll and changes etc on employee’s benefits and payroll details.  Meeting required deadlines and keeping Workday up-to-date.
  • Assisting VP Director HR with the salary review process for PSS operations and creation and distribution of the salary review letters.  Ensuring Workday is updated.
  • Minute taking on HR matters when necessary.
  • Assisting Corporate HR with the annual pension salary sacrifice process and letters.
  • General HR work - research, filing (both e- and hard-copies), scanning documents, updating staff list, maintaining employee records.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Strong experience of working as a HRBP 
  • Excellent knowledge of UK employment law with a pragmatic and common-sense approach   
  • Up-to-date in-depth knowledge of general HR policies and procedures and good practice in HR
  • Outstanding knowledge of MS office
  • Outstanding knowledge of Workday
  • Highly proficient in spoken and written English
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to prioritise and multi-task

Qualifications:

CIPD qualification or degree level 7 qualification with previous experience of HR

Essential criteria:

Outstanding knowledge of Workday

Ability to travel to Sweden and London, as and when required
