Description of the workplaceThe urological cancer research group at the Department of Translational Medicine conducts translational and clinical prostate cancer studies within a local multidisciplinary network and with international collaborators. The group is led by Professor Anders Bjartell and consists of senior researchers, postdocs and technical staff. We develop new treatments for aggressive tumors where tumor growth and spread can be followed with new advanced technology. The goal is to test it on patients in upcoming clinical trials. Our long-term goal is to reduce morbidity and mortality in prostate cancer by using biomarkers for prognosis assessment and to individualize treatment in relation to the natural course of the disease. We are now looking for an assistant researcher for a permanent, full-time position.

Work duties and responsibilitiesThe research group needs an assistant researcher for in vitro and in vivo studies for the development of new treatments for advanced prostate cancer. Laboratory work includes various prostate cancer cell lines for protein analysis with Western blot, DNA and RNA analysis and image analysis of preclinical and clinical tissue samples. The candidate is expected to be able to work independently and to present their work at conferences and in scientific journals.
Other tasks within the research group may also be required. These tasks may involve some international travel, as required by the project.
Qualifications
The employment requires:
- Doctoral degree (within the last six years) in medicine/biology where experience in translational prostate cancer research is important
- Experience of working with animal studies of prostate cancer and combination treatments in vitro and in vivo
- Experience with biomarker studies in prostate cancer
- Good knowledge of English, oral and written
- Good communication, presentation and stylistic skills
Strong emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. The tasks require that you have good cooperation skills, are solution-focused and able to work independently.
Consideration will also be given to how the applicant, through experience and competence, is deemed to supplement and strengthen ongoing research within the research groups and contribute to their future development.
Terms of employmentThe employment is a permanent, full-time position. Start date is 2024-05-01. The main rule is that employment at Lund University is conducted in Sweden, you are therefore expected to be able to carry out your work on site in Lund and Malmö.
