Your role
We are now looking for a curious, energetic, and ambitious trailblazer to lead our international Business Development & Acquisitions. As the Vice PresidentBusiness Development & Acquisitions you will be responsible for leading all key aspects of our acquisition transaction activities, including creating strategic acquisition plans and target criteria, for Fortum Consumer Solutions. You will have the overarching and end-to-end responsibility for our full acquisition target pipeline and process, from sourcing and evaluating to negotiating and closing on growth opportunities, continuously improving our replicable process around acquisitions.
As the Vice PresidentBusiness Development & Acquisitions, you will play a key role in shaping Fortum Consumer Solutions growth trajectory as a business. You will collaborate closely with Leadership Teams, identifying potential acquisition targets, conducting due diligence, negotiating deals, and execute successful transactions. Your strategic vision and financial acumen will be critical in driving our growth plans. Our strategic ambition is to continue to seek growth via acquisition transactions.
This position is both strategic and hands-on: you oversee all of our Business Development and acquisition activities and processes throughout the wider team internationally; you bring strategic insights for dialogue in the Leadership Team; you lead teams in an inclusive and engaging manner that empowers and motivates our colleagues to perform at their very best exceeding both our and their own expectations.
Your responsibilities
Your main responsibilities and key activities are to:
  • Proactively lead all cross-functional aspects of our Fortum Consumer Solutions acquisition transaction activities, in collaboration with Fortum Group M&A
  • Build and continuously improve our strategic acquisition plan and potential transaction pipeline, including our target criteria, consistent with our Fortum Consumer Solutions business strategy objectives
  • Take overarching and end-to-end responsibility for our full acquisition target pipeline and a replicable and disciplined process for acquisitions, from proactively sourcing and valuating to negotiating and closing on growth acquisition opportunities
  • Lead the development of detailed modelling to evaluate transactions, and comprehensive due diligence processes, assessing financial, operational, and legal aspects of potential acquisition targets, and negotiate deals, working with the senior leadership of Fortum to gain needed internal and external approvals
  • Promote Fortum to the general marketplace and particularly among potential target owners, building rapport and credibility
  • Interact regularly with third-party advisors (legal, financial, tax, consultants)
  • Participate in analyzing industry trends, addressable markets attractiveness, competitive landscapes, and post-acquisition integration planning efforts, with other Fortum leaders, to continuously improve our strategic and seamless alignment with our present business and business strategy

You will be part of the Fortum Consumer Solutions Leadership Team and report to Mikael Rönnblad, Fortum Leadership Team member. You are free to locate from any of our modern international campuses, however preferably from Espoo or Stockholm. We are working in hybrid mode and encourage everyone to work at least two days a week at our campuses, since nothing beats face-to-face time with great colleagues.
Your qualifications
To be successful in this role we expect you will have:
  • Extensive (min 5-10 years) results-oriented work experience from investment banking, private equity, venture capital, strategic corporate development, or related technology investment, with direct acquisition transaction experience
  • Progressive track-record of successfully being responsible for executing acquisition transactions, preferably within consumer/enterprise technology/services
  • Proven full acquisition process work experience from sourcing and screening, valuation, and due diligence, agreeing and documenting, to closing and integration planning
  • Master's degree in finance, accounting, business, technology, legal or a similar field from an internationally accredited university
  • Strategic thinker, with the capacity to see the full-picture, and a results- and outcome-oriented mindset
  • Excellent negotiator, influencer, and communicator, with strong interpersonal skills and a high business and financial acumen
  • Strong and proficient analytical and financial modeling skills, high understanding of industry economics, and experience of presenting to investment committees, senior leadership teams, and boards
  • Tech-savvy mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, complex, uncertain, and volatile environment
