Arbetsbeskrivning

Our solutions are a key part of most industries - electronics, medical research, renewable energy, food production, infrastructure and many more. Working with us means working with the latest technologies and groundbreaking, sustainable innovations.

Join us on our journey for a better tomorrow.

The emerging trends within Industry 4.0 are focusing a lot on increasing the flexibility in the assembly process. A more flexible process often results in a more complex process, which increases the risk of errors in the assembly process.

The Total Workstation Team develop different kind of indoor-positioning products that makes sure that the tightening tools only can be used when they are on the right position in the factory. We are developing a real-time system to attach to the tightening tool, to solve a research problem focused on indoor positioning on bolt level (meaning indoor localization accuracy of 1 cm). The input signals to the system are a video sensor and an IMU (inertial measurement unit) which, together with computer vision algorithms and Extended Kalman filters will solve the task.

What you’ll do:
The main target of this summer job is to continue the work of implementing the real-time system onto an FPGA and measuring the performance of the system. An initial FPGA implementation is already made as a master thesis project, and you will continue the work.

Example of tasks:

  • Update the FPGA/DPU to the current version of the algorithms using Vitis AI

  • Lab testing with our UR5e cobot

  • Evaluate the performance of the system

  • Write report of the results

To succeed, you will need:
We are looking for a master’s degree student in embedded systems or similar, with a big interest in hardware implementation. You have a can-do attitude, take initiative, enjoy discussing and exploring different ideas and you have knowledge/experience in the following:

  • FPGA development flow (Synthesis, PnR, interaction with peripherals such as cameras or sensors)

  • Linux

  • Familiar with CNN and Kalman filter

  • Experience with Xilinx FPGAs or Vitis AI is a plus.

In return, we offer you:
Join us for a rewarding summer experience. At Atlas Copco, you’ll grow in a friendly environment, develop your skills, and see ideas take shape. Connect with colleagues worldwide as part of the Atlas Copco Group.

Practical information
Location: Our HQ in Sickla (Stockholm)
Duration: fulltime during the summer according to agreement.
