What will you do as an External Communications Intern?
As an External Communications (Thesis) Intern, you will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of our External Communications strategy, including (employer) branding,, content creation, social media management,and evaluating AI tools for content creation. Within this framework, you are free to draw your own internship plan.

What do we expect from you as an External Communications intern?
You are currently enrolled in a Master's degree program in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field, and at the end phase of your studies;
You are available part- or full-time for at least 4 months;
You have strong verbal and written English communications skills;
You have affinity with websites, analytics, and social media. An eye for designs is a plus;
You are passionate about learning from new tools including AI tools for content creation;
You are a people person who likes being involved with multiple projects with various stakeholders;
Good academic records.
What does your day look like?
As an External Communications intern, you will be supporting the Global HR & Communications team, specifically in the field of External Communications. Your team is responsible for the building and protection of the Vopak brand. Your tasks can differ every day, as you work on creative projects, e.g. creating posts for LinkedIn, making slide decks, content for exhibitions or data-driven projects, e.g. performance of websites and social media, as well as media monitoring. Most projects are done in collaboration with different stakeholders, including colleagues from other departments as well as external agencies.
Some examples of key responsibilities include:
Support the development and implementation of our External Communications strategy;
Assist in the creation and distribution of press releases, and other External Communications materials;
Monitor media coverage and prepare media reports;
Assist in the management and content creation for our social media accounts (particularly LinkedIn);
Conduct research on industry trends and competitor activity;
Support the organization and execution of events and other External Communications activities;
Work with data from (social) media to development (social) media strategy.
