The Microsoft 365 Core team is looking for a passionate and self-motivated Content Designer to help shape the future of intelligence-driven experiences across the Microsoft ecosystem .
Our primary charters revolve around intelligent content discovery, C opilot assistance , and People profiles, which are woven into the fabric of Microsoft 365 core products. You will work across multiple disciplines and geographies, build strong relationships with other Microsoft product stakeholders, and impact the life of millions of people around the globe .
We're looking for a passionate user experience writer / Content Designer who wants to use their gift to collaborate with a collective of designers, researchers, and engineers in shaping how we weave our experiences into the entire suite of M icrosoft 365 products and communicate value to our partners and customers.
Responsibilities:
About the job
As a Content Designer you will be an advocate for customers, using your love of words to create clear, meaningful experiences and supporting communications . You will use your gift for language to design intuitive, delightful product experiences that help users accomplish their goals. You will also use your understanding of content strategy to help define product vision and narratives across multiple platforms and touch points.
As a writer, you have a portfolio of work that demonstrates your ability to communicate complex ideas with content that is clear, natural, and conversational.
In your role you'll work with the product team and design team to create effective UI that feels warm and clear . You'll drive guidelines and best practices, manage complex, cross-functional projects, and work with leadership to set goals and implement roadmaps. You'll also work with people in a variety of UX design-related jobs including researchers, product managers, engineers, marketers, and business stakeholders. In all these collaborations you champion conversational, inclusive language and a unified voice across products and platforms. You'll use empathy, logic, and hard data to inform content choices, and provide content recommendations that include the right words with complementary data and images.
User experience is at the forefront of how we create empathetic communications and intuitive, innovative, products that people love. We strive to learn and understand our customers' needs, behaviors, and emotions to gather insights that inform product strategy and design. Our team of Content Designers, designers, and researchers is passionate about quality, inclusivity, usability, and simplicity. We work on collaborative teams to solve complex challenges and craft experiences that highlight the unique capabilities and personality of our product. We believe that if we focus on the customer all else will follow.
What you'll do
  1. Collaborate with designers, researchers, legal, marketing, product managers, and engineers; Influence and adapt to stakeholders and their feedback.
  1. Help drive vision for our content and ensure cohesive product narratives; Document your strategies with guidelines and establish best practices and principles.
  1. Manage projects from needs assessment to implementation; identify opportunities, establish priorities, and manage stakeholders.
  1. Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to educate cross-functional partners on the role of UX writing, brand voice and tone, and content strategy throughout the product development process.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in creative writing, screenwriting, English, communications, journalism, linguistics, technical writing, UX Human Computer Interaction (HCI), or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong experience in user-focused product writing including work in hardware, software, digital agencies, or other relevant product areas.
  • Experience in shaping content for multi-disciplinary projects.
  • A portfolio demonstrating breadth, creativity, and experience in content writing, storytelling and/or UX writing. Please indicate your specific roles and contributions for each project submitted as part of the portfolio.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience developing information architecture for complex product suites.
  • Experience writing and publishing help and how-to content.
  • Experience writing user experience text.
  • Familiarity with user experience research principles and practices and how to use data to provide informed insights.
  • Ability to lead, collaborate and influence (without formal authority) engineering, design, and product management teams.
  • Experience with localization and accessibility best practices.
