Description of the workplaceWe are studying liver diseases like metabolically associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) using multi-omics in both mouse models and patient samples. Work duties and areas or responsibilitiesYou will be working in a culturally diverse team to investigate MAFLD using an array of experimental approaches. The primary goal is to advance research projects to the stage where they can be published in high quality journals. Other work responsibilities may include: informal mentorship of and skill-sharing with other members of the group; or composition of grants and/or research fellowships. Other work duties may also occur. The research work will be done in collaboration with members of the research group.
QualificationsRequirements for the position are:
- A PhD in experimental biological sciences.
- Good knowledge in liver diseases and metabolism
- Experience in with molecular biology and biochemistry
- Swedish license and experience to work with laboratory animals, especially with mice
- Good oral and written communication in English
- Good communication, presentation and writing skills
- Good collaboration skills, ability to work independently, and be solution-focused
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse team
Meritorious for the position are:
- A DMV (veterinary) degree is a plus
- Experience in computational analysis of large datasets like RNA sequencing and metabolomics
- Highly motivated researcher who is goal oriented
- Great importance will be given to personal qualities and the ability to interact with many collaborators here in Sweden and globally.
EligibilityAppointment to a post-doctoral position requires that the applicant has a PhD, or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, within the subject of the position. This eligibility requirement needs to be met no later than the time when the employment decision is made, and evidence that this requirement is met needs to have been sent in by this time at the latest. Candidates should have completed their PhD degree no more than three (3) years before the last date for applications. Under special circumstances, the doctoral degree can have been completed earlier. These circumstances refer to leave due to illness, parental leave, clinical work, positions of trust within trade union organizations or other similar circumstances.
Basis for assessmentAt Lund University, employment as a Postdoctoral researcher provides opportunities for scientific and pedagogical merit. There is mainly room for merit in research, but also for certain higher education pedagogical training. Teaching may be included in the tasks.
For the employment as a post doctor the following will primarily be taken into account:
- Ability to develop and carry out scientific research of good quality
- Pedagogic capability
Terms of employmentThis is a full-time employment limited to 2 years, with a possible extension for up to one additional year and limited to 3 years. Preliminary start date 2024-06-01 or according to agreement. The period of employment is determined in accordance with the agreement "Avtal om tidsbegränsad anställning som postdoktor" ("Agreement on fixed-term employment as a post-doctoral researcher") between SACO-S, OFR/S and SEKO, dated February 1, 2022
