What you will do
You will be working on one or a few challenging problems within the period of the thesis project, depending on your capability. Various types of traffic information and alerts have been introduced in the modern vehicle system to avoid potential crashes and increase driving safety and efficiency. While providing verbal guidance based on the navigation system is not uncommon in the current market, there is a wide gap to communicate the concise message to the driver effectively over a massive pool of redundant information. Meanwhile, our unique collection of driving behaviors is inadequately leveraged, which can facilitate a personalized experience for our customers. The aim of the thesis is to build an embedded agent to understand and distill the overloaded traffic and driving behavior information and interact with the driver in the best possible way to ensure driving safety. You are therefore invited to tackle the following interesting problems.
- Can we process and select the most useful information for driver interaction over the enriched data from multiple sources including traffic info, telematics, driving behaviors?
- How can we effectively develop a GenAI model to translate the driving information into concise descriptions for journey and trajectory planning?
- How can we transform the GenAI model to run on resource-constrained embedded devices?
- How do we compare with the relevant GenAI models by navigation?
In this project, you will be supported by numerous people from diverse backgrounds in automotive engineering, signal processing, and machine learning. Workshops will be held to discuss your findings with our experts.
You will bring
This Master's thesis can be performed by 2 students. The students should have a strong background in data mining and automotive engineering. You should have extensive skills in conducting research and analysis as well as presenting the results. We expect you to work from our office in Lindholmen of Gothenburg and collaborate with other colleagues. You are fluent in English, both written and spoken, and ideally have a driver's license (B, valid in EU).

Duration
- The work to start from Autumn 2024
- The duration for this thesis work is 20-24 weeks.
- The thesis amounts to 30 ECTS (academic credits) per student, in agreement with your Thesis Advisor at University
