Do you have the drive and edge as a Business and Human Rights specialist in the defence sector?

Your role

Saab has the ambition of being a leader within sustainability for the global defence industry. Saab was the first major defence company to commit to Science-Based Targets, while at the same time being one of the first defence companies to implement the UN Guiding Principles for Business and Human Rights into our processes.

As Group Sustainability Manager you will have an important role in continuously developing Saab’s management of Human Rights risks throughout Saab’s value-chain, both upstream and downstream. One of the main responsibilities will be to develop and improve ways-of-working and processes for sustainability due diligence of business partners, together with other Group Functions. You will together with the Group Sustainability-team ensure compliance with sustainability legislation, but also ensure that Saab manages risk and opportunities in accordance with stakeholder expectations and in accordance with Saab’s Business Plan.

As Group Sustainability Manager you will together with colleagues be responsible for managing the Responsible Sales process and the associated framework. You will conduct Responsible Sales risk assessments and guide Business Areas relating to management of Human Rights risks. You will also gather external information and research to further improve our management of sustainability risks and opportunities.

As Group Sustainability Manager you will also support the rest of the Group Sustainability-team, which includes working with sustainability reporting, governance, internal and external communication, public policy and stakeholder engagement. The Group Sustainability Team works on a global arena with our Business Areas, operational countries and relevant Group Functions.

You will work in Group Communication and Sustainability, and report to the Head of Group Sustainability.

Your profile

You have a relevant academic education, for example a master's degree in Political Science, Social Sciences, Economics or Law. You have a strong knowledge of international sustainability standards and how companies put them into practice. You should be familiar with the UN Global Compact, the Global Reporting Initiative, European Sustainability Reporting Standard and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. You should also have a strong understanding and experience of international relations, Human Rights and international law.

For the position as Group Sustainability Manager, Business and Human Rights, you should:

  • have at least 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in major international companies, government authorities or international organizations.
  • have experience of working with Human Rights, international law or business ethics issues in a corporate setting.
  • have experience and knowledge of international relations and international law.
  • have strong knowledge and experience of practically applying international sustainability frameworks in complex settings.
  • be used lead projects and work in cross-functional teams.
  • have been successful in managing sustainability due diligence issues.
  • be able to communicate complex information and content in an easy and understandable way.
  • be able to work independently based on given goals and assignments, but also have good collaboration skills with colleagues as well as internal and external counterparts.

It is considered an extra merit if you have worked in the defence sector.
 

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
